We are pleased to share the opening of Corpo-Fantasma, a group exhibition including works by Gabriel Abrantes at Villa Portella, Leiria.
With its opening scheduled for 22 May, a municipal public holiday, the exhibition also marks the reopening of the Villa Portela Arts Centre to the public, following the storm of 28 January.
Curated by Marta Espiridão, the exhibition offers a sensory, non-linear journey in which bodies and ghosts manifest themselves in different forms, materials and spaces. The human figure emerges in a state of constant tension between presence and absence, between the visible and the invisible, between matter and its dissolution.
Between light and shadow, memory and anticipation, Corpo-Fantasma invites visitors to explore territories where consciousness persists beyond the body, revealing art as a space of transition, evocation and permanence.
