Igor Jesus was born in 1989 in Lisbon, where he lives and works. He has a degree in sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. In 2022, he was one of the winners of the Caixa para Jovens Artistas Competition - Caixa Geral Depósitos Collection; in 2019 he won the Crear/sin/prisa award, Cervezas Alhambra /ARCO partnership; in 2017 he was a finalist for the EDP Foundation's EDP New Artists Award. In 2017, he was also awarded a scholarship by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in partnership with Kunstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin for an Artist Residency program. He has exhibited his work regularly, including solo exhibitions: "BanhoMaria" - Escola das Artes in Porto in 2022; "Clávier à Lumier" - Rialto6, Lisbon in 2021; "Chamber" - Capela Carlos Alberto in Porto in 2020; "Safelight" - Galeria Filomena Soares in 2019; "Strob" - No Entulho/Artworks, Porto; "BoundtotheEarth" - Kunstraum Botschaft in Berlin; "Anthropophag" - Cologne Art Fair in Cologne in 2018; "Love you to the bones" - Filomena Soares Gallery; "Liebe bis unter die haut" - Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin in 2017 and "Chessari" - Solar Gallery, Vila do Conde in 2016.
