Galeria Francisco Fino is pleased to share the opening of Um 31 na Fábrica, a group exhibition at Beato Creative Hub – Fábrica de Confeitaria da Antiga Manutenção Militar, with the participation of João Motta Guedes. Opening February 6th, between 6 and 10 PM, the exhibition will be on view until February 15th.
The opening program includes:
Performance (7:30 pm) Vera Midões with Cláudio da Silva
After-party Casa Capitão
Drawing on collective moments and a spirit of synchrony, this exhibition is articulated through the socio-political expression popularly circulated in oral culture as “fazer um 31” [to cause a stir], here reconfigured as an act of artistic vitality. Temporarily reactivating one of the buildings of the former Military Maintenance Confectionery Factory—now part of the Beato Innovation District—the exhibition brings together thirty-one artists who work or have worked in the area of Xabregas, in the parish of Beato. It seeks to establish a coexistence between artistic practices shaped within studio spaces and the history of an industrial manufacturing complex that has undergone successive transformations.
Curated by Constança Pupo Cardoso, with works by Afonso Laranjeira, Eduardo Antonio, Eva Gaspar, Guilherme Figueiredo, Heron P. Nogueira, Isabel Medeiros, Joana Coelho, João Bragança Gil, João Motta Guedes, João Pedro Vale + Nuno Alexandre Ferreira, Julee, Laura Caetano, Lulú, Luís Rocha, Luísa Saldanha, Manuel Ferreira, Maria Moderno, Maria Máximo, Marvam Shimizu, Pablo Quiroga Devia, Pedro Zhang, Rita Paisana, Rudi Brito, Rui Gueifão, Rui Toscano, Sara Mealha, Sofia Aquiar, Tomás Colaço, Tristan Le Guay, Vasco Futscher and Vera Midões.
