Mise en image, Studium and Punctum, series titled after Barthes’ concepts, uphold the central place of photography and text in Vasco Araújo’s practice. In the first group of dypthics the artist aims at the passage of time as it is corroborated by the private archive of small photographs taken at a photomaton, as by the images of a studio/atelier where the physical presence of someone is apparent by the ordering of actions and chronological time given by the texts.

Everywhere; Up and down; In search of something; In search of someone; Someone like him; Another being like him; A little like him; Differvent from him. Walk, walk... here and there; Everywhere; Up and down; In search of someone; Until finally; End of a long day; When he said to himself; For who else; Time to stop; Time to stop; Stop walking; Here and there; Everywhere; Up and down; In search of someone; Here and there; Everywhere; Up and down; In search of someone. Now something else; Stop the search, stop someone else’s search; Start something new at the end of a long day; And he said to himself; For who else; Time to reflect; Time to reflect. At the end of a long day; Saying to himself; For who else; Time to reflect; Time to reflect; Stop walking; Back and forth; Time to go and sit down; Sit by the window; Quiet by the window; A single window; Until at last; It has come at last; The end of a long day; While sitting at the window; Quiet at the window, until at last; At the end of a long day, he said, he said to himself; For who else; Time to take a deep breath; Time to react; Time to rip it up; Time to start again and start walking.
