Ali Kazma
To authorize entry to the home-studio and studio-home that deciphers the realm of
domestic space, there is no point in expecting the masters of these sites in person. The
objects, the ancestors, the movement of shadows and reflections on the walls, floor and
ceiling that are brought together under the same roof pave the way and light a path in their
stead. Apparently depriving the dwelling place of its residents, the sense of absence found
throughout Kazma’s work causes the foundations of established categories to tremble. In
the house of words and images (House of Letters) that is sufficiently vast to accommodate
the thoughts of others and one’s own, to shelter heaven and hell, along with the en- tire
universe, the writer is not writing; unlike the written word that re- mains, he is busy passing
– incognito.
